How does it work?
By using intense pulses of light which is absorbed by melanin and converted into heat, we can damage the hair follicle for permanent hair reduction. Unlike other methods, such as waxing and shaving, our IPL hair removal device can offer a solution with minimal pain and long-lasting results for most skin types. You should see noticeable results from just 3 treatments as the growth reduces more and more with each session.
What will it feel like?
You can feel what is described as a ‘hot flick’ of an elastic band during treatment. Not knowing what it will feel like is often a worry when wanting to start hair removal so during your consultation a small test area will be done to check your skin’s compatibility and also to put your mind at rest to what the sensation feels like.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions required varies from client to client dependant on many factors. However, as a guideline it is always recommended to complete a course of at least six sessions 4-8 weeks apart, this is so we can catch all the hair follicles in the Anagen stage, which is the growth stage, and the hair is still attached in the follicle helping us to destroy it so the hair can never grow again.
Who is suitable for treatments?
Most people are suitable for treatment. We will be able to ascertain at your consultation if the treatment will be successful for you. It is not possible to treat you if you have a sun tan so you must not actively tan for at least 4 weeks before coming for your treatment or your patch test. The EXCELITE can treat skin types 1 to 5 unfortunately it can not treat black skin. Grey/white hair has no melanin so is also not suitable for treatment.
What will happen after my treatment?
The hair follicles are damaged by heat but the hairs remain in the follicles. The dead hairs shed after 1 – 3 weeks as the epidermis renews. During this period the hairs will seem to ‘grow’ as they are pushed out by the new epidermis. You can remove the hair between treatments by shaving, you do not need to let your hair grow.
How long does it take?
Treatments can take anything from 10 minutes to an hour depending on the area being treated.
What can I expect from the treatment?
You can expect 80% reduction of the hair in areas treated
